I had a wonderful hour of blackberry picking with my youngest daughter Paige today. It is so amazing that God has graced us with such an abundant crop without a bit of our own planting, cultivating or maintaining. The "icing on the cake" was spending time with Paige (another of God's wonderful graces to me) marveling in the caches of succulent purple berries and creating a blackberry crumble together to boot. The coup de grace will be sampling the finished product. What a great day! God is good!

I love this. God has also shown me his extravagance in blackberries.... so many that he knows we will never get and yet He's not stingy and loves to sow abundantly... so different from our 'waste not, want not" upbringing. The other thing is that i realized that to get the really good fruit, you have to work slowly towards your goal or you get the familiar thorn prick ...and more the more you are hasty...it's also interesting to me that on the journey to that fruit it's impossible to attain it without some thorn pricks - that make you want to quit - along the way.. but that that if you don't give up, in due time you will reap a harvest :)
